How shops actually use StokiTrack

Three situations we see again and again: a kiosk, a minimart and a wholesaler. Each one starts with a problem you will probably recognise.

Note: these are illustrative examples of typical shops, not quotes from named customers. Real customer stories will replace them as shops agree to be featured.

Kiosk · Duka plan

A neighbourhood kiosk

Kawangware, Nairobi

Shida · The challenge

Fast movers like bread and milk kept running out by mid-morning, while slow goods sat on the shelf for months. Stock was counted in a exercise book, usually on a Sunday, and by then the week's sales were already lost.

Suluhisho · What changed

Products were entered once with a reorder level for each. The clerk records every sale on a phone, so stock counts itself. Stoki is asked one question each morning: what should I restock today?

Matokeo · The outcome

Restocking moved from a weekly guess to a daily list with a shilling total attached, and the dead stock on the shelf became visible for the first time.

Retail shop · Biashara plan

A residential minimart

Kilimani, Nairobi

Shida · The challenge

Three clerks worked different shifts and the owner could not tell which sales happened when, or explain why the cash at closing rarely matched the goods that had left the shelves.

Suluhisho · What changed

Staff clock in and out in the app, and every sale and stock adjustment records who made it. Cash and M-Pesa sales are separated automatically.

Matokeo · The outcome

Discrepancies could finally be traced to a shift and a person, and the conversation with staff changed from accusation to a shared record everyone could see.

Wholesaler · Jumla plan

A dry-goods wholesaler

Nakuru

Shida · The challenge

Capital was tied up in slow lines while the fast ones ran short. With thousands of SKUs, nobody could say which products were actually earning their shelf space.

Suluhisho · What changed

Margin is tracked per product using the cost recorded at the time of each sale, so old purchases do not distort it. Stoki reports the worst performers and the capital sitting in them.

Matokeo · The outcome

Buying decisions started from a ranked list of what earns and what does not, rather than from whichever supplier called that week.
